Mailbox door should snap shut and disengage easily. To adjust mailbox door, using pliers, bend the curved portion up or down a little to increase or decrease the interference inside the rolled rim of the mailbox.

Apply a lubricant to the hinge points and catch areas of the mailbox door now and a few times a year for smooth operation.
